Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation Enhances Emergency Care with Advanced Technology

The Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation recently purchased a C-MAC® videolaryngoscope device that will help patients during respiratory emergencies. This device was purchased for the BVRMC Emergency Department through donations to the Foundation.

Designed for both routine and challenging airway management, the C-MAC® videolaryngoscope aids in patient intubation.

There are various reasons why a patient may need to be intubated, including complications with COPD, chronic diseases, cardiac arrest or other illnesses. Additionally, issues with asthma, RSV or other upper respiratory viruses are common reasons for intubation in pediatric patients. Following intubation, patients are typically transferred out for additional care where lung specialists can oversee their treatment.

“We are grateful for the many donors who continuously support the Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation,” says BVRMC Emergency Room Medical Director Dr. Garrett Feddersen. “Their contributions enable us to deliver the highest quality care to our patients using the most advanced equipment.”

Unlike conventional intubation devices, the C-MAC® videolaryngoscope's camera provides enhanced visibility, facilitating smoother procedures and improving patient comfort. Its real-time visualization ensures precision and effectiveness during intubation, while also allowing recording for educational purposes, offering valuable learning opportunities for medical staff.

Additionally, the device's versatility and various size attachments accommodates patients of all ages, including pediatric patients. Its suction capability further enhances patient safety, especially in managing airway obstructions, which can be crucial when treating trauma patients.
By acquiring this device for the BVRMC Emergency Department, staff can promptly access essential equipment without the need to transfer supplies between departments, ensuring efficient and uninterrupted care.

With the addition of the C-MAC® videolaryngoscope, the Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation continues its commitment to advancing medical care in the region, prioritizing patient well-being and safety.
