BVRMC Now Accepting Nursing Scholarship Applications

Amber Chrischilles | December 9th, 2022

The Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Nursing Scholarship Committee is accepting scholarship applications until March 31 for the 2023-2024 academic year. The annual scholarship award is $1,000.

Since its inception in 2003, 172 scholarships have been awarded to area nursing students provided entirely by donations to the scholarship program.

Applicants must be:

  • Permanent residence of Buena Vista County or adjoining county.
  • Completed at least one year of pre-nursing education at an accredited school and has applied or will be applying to a nursing program for the upcoming academic year.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Nurses working toward an advanced degree are also eligible to apply.

“I have been a registered nurse at BVRMC for three years and am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing science at Briar Cliff University. This scholarship lessens the financial burden that comes with pursing a higher education,” says past scholarship recipient, Kaylynn Smit. “Because of scholarship donors, I can continue my education which will help me provide better care to the patients I serve daily.

For rules and an application, visit www.bvrmc.org and look under the Foundation tab for Scholarship Opportunities. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2023. For more information, call Katie Schwint at 712.213.8601.
