Thanks to the generosity of donors supporting the Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation’s AWARE fund, patients fighting cancer received summer gifts to provide comfort and support throughout treatment. Items in this year’s gifts include a grocery gift card, lip balm, a cooling towel and a reusable hot/cold pack.
“It’s often the little things that can brighten someone’s day during cancer treatment,” says Deb Colshan, BVRMC Director of Oncology & Infusion. “We’re grateful to be able to share these gifts and remind our patients that they are cared for every step of the way.”
The AWARE fund helps purchase items not covered by insurance for patients fighting cancer at BVRMC such as hats, wigs, grocery cards, chemo shirts, mastectomy products and other comfort items. Funds are raised from community donations, helping to make a difference in patients’ lives.
“Support for the AWARE fund allows us to provide encouragement, comfort and hope in meaningful ways,” says Katie Schwint, BVRMC Executive Director of Community Development. “We are incredibly grateful for a community that continues to give so generously and help make a difference in the lives of our patients.”
