Thanks to the generosity of donors supporting BVRMC’s AWARE fund, holiday gifts were provided to patients fighting cancer this winter. Items in this year’s gift include a gas gift card, a grocery gift card and a snack box filled with holiday treats.
“We are incredibly thankful to have a community that supports our patients through the AWARE fund, helping them feel comforted and cared for during one of the hardest journeys of their lives,” says Deb Colshan, BVRMC Director of Oncology & Infusion. “It is a joy to share these holiday gifts and see the smiles they bring to our patients’ faces.”
The AWARE fund helps purchase items not covered by insurance for patients fighting cancer at BVRMC such as hats, wigs, grocery cards, chemo shirts, mastectomy products and other comfort items. Funds are raised from community donations, helping to make a difference in patients’ lives.
“Donations to the AWARE fund are a reminder to our patients that they are not facing cancer alone,” says Katie Schwint, BVRMC Executive Director of Community Development. “Each gift is a tangible expression of care from our community, offering comfort and support when patients need it most.”
