Buena Vista Regional Medical Center has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review in three national categories, highlighting excellence in emergency medical services, patient experience and hospital cleanliness.
BVRMC was recognized as one of 51 Top Hospital-Affiliated EMS for Heart and Stroke Care, one of 765 Hospitals Patients Would Highly Recommend and one of 396 Cleanest Hospitals in the United States.
The American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline EMS program recognized 51 hospital-affiliated emergency medical services for excellence in prehospital heart, stroke and cardiac arrest care. The recognition focuses on quality of care and patient outcomes, with organizations earning Gold, Silver or Bronze status based on performance measures and quality improvement efforts. BVRMC was one of only two Iowa organizations recognized and received a Silver award.
Becker’s also recognized BVRMC as one of 765 hospital nationwide that patients would highly recommend. BVRMC was one of 21 Iowa hospitals to receive a five-star patient recommendation rating.
In addition, BVRMC was named one of 396 Cleanest Hospitals in the United States. BVRMC was one of only 15 Iowa hospitals to earn a five-star cleanliness rating.
Both the patient recommendation and cleanliness recognitions are based on Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The ratings reflect surveys collected between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, and were released in May 2026.
“Receiving recognition in three separate categories reflects the dedication of our entire team,” says BVRMC CEO Rob Colerick. “From the lifesaving care provided by our EMS staff to the positive experiences our patients have throughout their stay, our employees are committed to delivering high-quality care in a safe, clean and welcoming environment. We are proud to be recognized for the work we do every day to serve our communities.”
