Buena Vista Regional Medical Center and UnityPoint Clinic Family Medicine – Buena Vista are pleased to welcome Dr. Jorge Vendrell, board-certified family medicine physician. Dr. Vendrell began seeing patients in Storm Lake in late August.
Dr. Vendrell earned his medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico and completed his family medicine residency at HCA Healthcare in Orange Park, Florida. He provides care in both English and Spanish.
“I am very excited to be in Storm Lake and begin this new chapter with my family,” says Dr. Vendrell. “I look forward to getting to know my patients and becoming part of the community. One of the things I enjoy most about family medicine is building long-term relationships and helping people improve their health throughout all stages of life.”
Dr. Vendrell’s medical interests include preventive care, chronic disease management, acute care, community health, and women’s and men’s health. His approach to medicine focuses on listening to patients, understanding their goals and working together to develop a care plan that meets their individual needs. His background also includes emergency medicine experience in Puerto Rico.

Dr. Vendrell is joined in Storm Lake by his wife, Norma. They have an adult son that lives in Puerto Rico where Dr. Vendrell is originally from. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling and outdoor activities, including hiking and going to the beach.
