18th Annual Foundation Golf Fundraiser

The 18th annual “Great Day for a Great Cause” fundraising golf event organized by the Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation in support of Buena Vista Regional Medical Center was held June 13 at Lake Creek Country Club. The golfers and volunteers enjoyed a day of fun with friends and colleagues and great weather. Many thanks to all of the very generous sponsors and prize donors for making this another successful event. It truly was a “Great Day for a Great Cause!”

BVRMC Recognizes Nursing Scholarship Recipients

The nine recipients selected to receive nursing scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year were recognized at the 16th annual award reception held May 31st in the Kallmer Education Center at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.  A total of one-hundred twenty-nine scholarships have been awarded since the program began in 2003.  Each scholarship is $1000 and is funded entirely from donations, many of them from very generous donors who have established a scholarship fund in their name.  Awards this year went to Allysha Vibbard, Lytton and Maddi Morenz, Newell, receiving the BVRMC Nursing Scholarship Committee awards; Jessica Badertscher, Storm Lake, receiving the Jack and Jane Spooner Nursing Scholarship; Brianna Wells, Fonda, receiving the Phillip and Iris Halverson Nursing Scholarship; Morgan Roberts, Fonda, receiving the Jenny Perry Memorial Nursing Scholarship; Megan Miller, Alta, receiving the William and Evelyn Meyer Nursing Scholarship; Nguyen T. Nguyen, Storm Lake, receiving the Jim and Barb Jorgensen Nursing Scholarship; Jordan Wilken, Newell, receiving the Marilyn Bryant Memorial Nursing Scholarship and Valery DeLaO, Storm Lake, receiving the Bonita Wolf Memorial Nursing Scholarship. The Marilyn Bryant and Bonita Wolf Scholarships were new for 2018-19 and were awarded in memory of these nurses who were founding members of the BVRMC Nursing Scholarship Committee and who passed away in 2017. Ruth A. Bryant, PhD addressed the attendees with an inspirational message advising them to look to the future and never give up on their dreams as they pursue their career in the honorable profession of nursing.  Dr. Bryant is a native of Storm Lake who serves as the Director of Nursing Research at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
