BVRMC Selected by State for New Testing Machine (4.16.2020)

Buena Vista Regional Medical Center has been selected to receive one of thirteen new COVID-19 testing machines from the Iowa Department of Public Health. The new Abbott machine provides a rapid result for COVID-19 tests.

BVRMC will serve as a hub for testing in several communities. The machines have limited testing capacity, though, until the state gets more testing supplies and the state will provide direction as to who can actually receive this test.

Those that do not meet the state’s criteria, but do need to be tested based on BVRMC’s medical opinion will continue the current process where tests are sent to outside labs and takes days for results.

Dr. John Pymm Interview with Storm Lake Radio on Coronavirus- Spanish

Buena Vista Regional Medical Center is working to prepare for any coronavirus (COVID-19) patients that may present themselves to the hospital.

  • Emergency Room Entrance has an outdoor screening station that will screen any patient prior to entering the building.

People wanting to pay bills are asked to use the mail, online payment, or the payment drop box in the ER parking lot.

The most important thing for the community to do is stay away from the hospital if you do not need to be here.

Dial 211 from your phone for additional information on COVID-19. 211 provides callers with information about and referrals to social services for every day needs and in times of crisis.

These restrictions will be in place until further notice.

Everyone at BVRMC appreciates your understanding and cooperation.
