Safe and Effective Treatments The Skin & Vein Laser Clinic, in the Center for Women, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center uses the most advanced laser technology for superficial skin resurfacing. The benefit of this procedure is that it can be performed with little or no down time. Q. How does it work? Laser light is highly absorbed by water in the superficial layer of the skin. This results in ablation or removal of the superficial skin. Your Skin & Vein Laser Clinic medical professional will analyze your skin condition and help you select the most effective treatment for you. Q. When will you see results? Effects are cumulative. After the first treatment you will see improvements in pigment and skin texture within a few days. Other improvements will be more subtle and may take one to three months. Friends may suggest that you look more rested. With each subsequent treatment, subtle changes will accumulate until you have achieved the improvement you desire. Q. How often can you have it done? A series of three to five treatments, spaced two to six weeks apart, is our standard recommendation. Occasionally, more treatments may be needed for certain individuals or conditions. Periodic maintenance treatments may be prescribed for optimal, lasting results. Q. What can you expect immediately post-treatment? Immediately following the procedure you may experience some redness and swelling. The redness and swelling usually dissipates within one to three days. Then peeling may occur for one to three days. Makeup may be applied to the treated area with physician approval. It is extremely important to apply a moisturizer with SPF30 sunblock and avoid sun exposure on a daily basis to reduce any potential side effects. Q. How long does the treatment take? This treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes. |
