The 17th Annual Foundation Golf Tournament Fundraiser

was held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

The 17th annual "Great Day for a Great Cause" fundraising golf event organized by the Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation in support of Buena Vista Regional Medical Center was held June 14 at Lake Creek Country Club. The golfers and volunteers enjoyed a day of fun with friends and colleagues and great weather. Many, many generous Sponsors and prize donors helped make this event another success. Since June 14 was Flag Day, that patriotic theme was featured.

Many thanks to all of the very generous sponsors and prize donors for this event. It truly was a "Great day for a Great Cause!"

BVRMC Recognizes Nursing Scholarship Recipients at Award Ceremony

The eight recipients selected to receive nursing scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year were recognized at the 15th annual award reception held May 31st in the Kallmer Education Center at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center. A total of one-hundred twenty scholarships have been awarded since the program began in 2003. Each scholarship is $1000 and is funded entirely from donations, many of them from very generous donors who have established a scholarship fund in their name. Awards this year went to Elizabeth Feldman, Spencer, receiving the BVRMC Nursing Scholarship Committee award; Brielle Kolpin, Aurelia, receiving the Jack and Jane Spooner Nursing Scholarship; Megan Miller, Alta, receiving the Phillip and Iris Halverson Nursing Scholarship; Mary Weir, Schaller, receiving the Dr. Velma Boston Memorial Nursing Scholarship; Laurentine Dennis, Storm Lake, receiving the Jenny Perry Memorial Nursing Scholarship; Alexandria Roth, Wall Lake, receiving the William and Evelyn Meyer Nursing Scholarship; Raquel Najera-Pantoja, Storm Lake, receiving the Unity Point Buena Vista Clinic Family Medicine Physicians Nursing Scholarship; and Katherine Jovel, Storm Lake, receiving the Jim and Barb Jorgensen Nursing Scholarship. Cathy Fordyce BSN, Nikki Hazen RN and Tenaea Jeppeson RN, Buena Vista Regional Medical Center employees and three of the 2017 recipients of the "100 Great Iowa Nurses" awards addressed the attendees and congratulated the scholarship recipients for their dedication to the honorable profession of nursing. Included in the program were comments made in memory of two of the nursing scholarship committee's founding members, Marilyn Bryant and Bonita Wolf, who recently passed away.
